teaching

Posted on: February 19, 2012

We wish it would happen at the snap of our fingers, but teaching responsibility to children is something that takes years. Start as soon as your toddler begins understanding simple commands, like “put the ball in the playroom.” Continue to incorporate simple commands into their day like “take your coat to your room,” “find your shoes.” As your children age, increase the complexity of the commands and be consistent. As personal responsibility becomes a part of their day, they will more likely understand their role in the family and caring for their personal items.
